Rachel Klein has a long history of service and dedication to others. Before starting a family in the Town of Oyster Bay, Rachel worked as a health aide, providing medical attention and care to a teenage girl with a rare genetic disorder. In 2008, Rachel was accepted to the NYC Teaching Fellows program, which recruits and trains educators to serve in high need neighborhoods and subject areas. She spent several years teaching Special Education in Queens.
Rachel and her husband worked hard to be able to buy a home in Plainview, because of the community and excellent school district. While currently a full time mother of two little ones, Rachel is also a class mom and continues to teach in a Saturday enrichment program. As a concerned parent and citizen, Rachel founded the grassroots group, Long Islanders for Gun Safety, in response to the massacre in Parkland, FL. Working hard to effect change, Rachel led a group of dedicated volunteers in helping to flip NY’s 5th Senate district in 2018. As a result, numerous bipartisan, gun violence prevention laws have been passed which will ultimately make NY a safer place to live and raise a family.
Rachel earned a BFA from New York University, an MA from Columbia University, and an MAT from Queens College. She is committed to restoring good government at the local level, and will serve her community with the highest standards of honesty, decency and integrity.
