City of Long Beach Council MemberOffice Address:
1 W. Chester St., Long Beach, NY 11561
Long Beach City Councilman Anthony Eramo was born and raised in Nassau County. He and his wife Jennifer of 18 years are raising their two children in their West End home. Both of their children attend Long Beach public schools and are active members of the community. He works full-time as a Field Technician for the phone company, serves his union as a Chief Shop Steward and volunteers as a Long Beach Little League Coach.
Anthony was first elected to the City Council in 2013 and was re-elected in 2015. Anthony is a proud member of the Communications Workers of America Local 1106. He served CWA Local 1104 for ten years as Shop Steward and Political Coordinator. His work in CWA led him to the Working Families Party and from 2009 till 2012, he was elected Co-Chair of the Nassau County Chapter. Throughout his political tenure, Anthony has had the opportunity to collaborate with elected officials at all levels of government, fostering many productive relationships. In Washington D.C., Albany, NY and in Town Halls across Long Island, Anthony has fought to pass legislation that protects workers and the environment. Anthony is committed to hard-working families, who, like his, are trying to make ends meet.
After Super Storm Sandy, his family’s life, like thousands of other families, was turned upside-down. He was inspired to use his advocacy, communication and organizing skills at home in our City by the Sea. His home, like so many, sustained heavy damage, forcing his family’s almost 2-year relocation while they navigated the complicated process of lifting their house to the new FEMA code.
In his own words, “Every resident of our City was affected in ways many of us still cannot comprehend. The good that came out in our neighbors was amazing. We all want our City back, our neighbors back and for many of us, our homes back. I ran for Long Beach City Council to be part of a team that will not rest until Long Beach is back stronger, smarter and safer than ever. Jennifer and I love Long Beach and we chose to raise our kids here; I will continue to work hard to make it the great place I want all our children to grow up in.”
